If you want to know a little bit more about me, this page is for you
My name is Alexandra and I’ll be your dance teacher for the next 3 months. I’ve been teaching heels dance for 2 years and this is going to be my 4th dance season.
I have 20 years of dance experience and my dance background is in Contemporary and Ballet dance. I explored a lot of other dance styles such as Dance Plasticity, Waacking, Hip-Hop, Jazz Funk and Tango. In 2023, I performed on a stage and was a co-choreographer for the singer GRAE at Bluesfest in Ottawa.
Also, I participated in multiple cheerleading competitions all over Canada and won 1st place in a category of Aerial Hoop double in 2023 at the National Championship.
All these experiences builded my discipline, permitted me to create a unique dance style and made me realize that everything is possible if you have a concrete goal and right people around.
I was born in Moldova and moved to Montreal when I was 13 years old. I speak English, French, Russian and I understand Ukrainian.
I’m specialized in teaching heels dance for beginners and I have students starting 17 years old up to 40+. My unique dance program will help you to discover the sleeping capacities of your body and will bring more confidence and bright colors to your day to day life.
My students describe me as a supportive, empathic and strict when needed teacher.
I believe that dancing can positively impact your life, support you during challenging life moments, improve your social skills, self-esteem and help you to discover how beautiful and unique you are.
I experienced all the previous written points on myself. It changed my life and made me who I’m today. This is why I decided to teach dance so you can as well change your life through the art of movement.
What is Heels Dance and what does it represent for me?
High Heels Dance is a mix of elegance, physical strength, feminine energy, confidence and self-expression. To be able to dance in heels, you need to have body control and muscle strength, to execute different movements while keeping balance in heels.
When I wear high heels, it gives me a feeling of joy and confidence.
My posture changes, I walk, move and feel different.
Heels dance is an amazing class to work on your feminine energy. Wearing high heels accentuates the beautiful lines and curves of your body. The movements become more elegant and sensual. You are also surrounded by beautiful and talented women that inspire you and motivate you.
The self-expression begins even before the dance class, when you prepare your dance outfit. What you can wear for a heels class is so varios! During the improvisation moment in the choreography, you have time to dance and show your
authentique energy and movements.
Dancing gives me the liberty of flying without wings.
High Heels Dance made me a confident and attractive woman in all senses.
Which High heels and where to buy them?
Buying heels online for the first time might be scary. Before ordering, you can reach out to me so I can verify the choice that you made.
- For a beginner dancer, I suggest purchasing heels that support your ankle, have a flexible and open toe. No platform shoes, it’s important to feel the floor. Light weight, so you can move faster.
- Height and shape of the heel. I recommend a height of 3’5 inches (8.5cm) to begin with. Once you get comfortable and confident dancing with this height, you can purchase heels higher. For the shape of the heel, it would be a stiletto heel, which is not too slim and not too chunky.
- Here are a few websites where you can buy your shoes online.
1.Burju Dance Shoes, specialized in professional dance shoes. Price is usually around $200. Here is my promo code “aledance” to get 10%.
2. Light in the Box, I ordered my first dance shoes on this website. Price is usually around 70$- $80. If you download their app, you get a discount.
3. For the fastest delivery, Search for “high heels for dance” on Amazon.
I have students that dance without heels at the beginning, to get comfortable with movements and steps.
You are welcome to do the same!
What to wear for a Heels Dance Class?
One of my favorite things about the heels dance is that you have so many options of what to wear. Tops, t-shirts, crop tops, shorts, leggings, skirts with shorts, jumpsuits, bodysuits, cargo pants and the list goes on. Make sure that the material is stretchy and that the clothes don’t prevent you from moving.
Let Yourself expression, creativeness, confidence and self love be represented by your outfit.
You create your own look!
Where to shop in Montreal?
– H&M, Ardene, Dynamite, any sports stores, Garage, etc
Where to shop online?
– Danzadanza, Amazon, Shein, Fashion Nova, etc
One thing that I don’t find appropriate at my dance classes – is to wear only lingerie.
Some intimate moments and outfits, you can keep it for your personal projects and your significant other.
What else to bring to the heels class?
1) You’ll need the knee pads for the movements on the floor. On Amazon, you could find great options. You only need to write “knee pads for dancing”. Also, the store “Sport Expert” to buy in person.
If you don’t know which one to choose – message me and it will be a pleasure for me to help you.
Don’t forget your bottle of water to stay hydrated during the class.
2) To protect the floor from the heels scratches, please get the heel protectors on Amazon for your shoes.
How to make your Heels journey pleasant and insightful
You’ll meet a lot of new supportive, beautiful and talented women during your group heels classes. I usually host around 15 people in a class.
Here are few tips that make me feel comfortable in any group classes:
Ask questions. Don’t be shy to ask questions or to make me repeat or to re-explain a movement. By doing so, you will help yourself and others to understand the movements and exercises better.
Remember that you’re not the only one. If you are someone who feels anxious around people and shy to dance or talk in group classes – remember that you inspire so many people around you. Imagine that the way you feel, other students might feel the same.
Comparing yourself to someone else is normal. This is how our brain processes when we learn or see something new. During a dance class, you might see girls who learn fast or who look more confident. Don’t forget that practice makes everything better. The person that you compare yourself to might have been training for longer than you.
Practice at home. Imagine that a dance class is like a French class in a school. You learn in a class and then you need to study at home to get better. There is no magic. Dancing is about discipline, practices, positive thinking and giving your body time to process the new information and acquire it. I’ll tell you a secret about how I’m so flexible. I was stretching on my own at home. That’s the only reason why I became more flexible than others in my group.
Give yourself time. First time learning something new can be challenging. I remember my first ever aerial hoop class in 2022. I was upset and angry with myself that my body couldn’t repeat and execute the movements as the teachers showed us. I remember very well that thought in my head “maybe this sport isn’t for me”. I continued to train. After 3 months, I finally started to see the progress and to feel better. In June 2023, I won 1st place at the National Aerial Competition in an Aerial Hoop Double.
